Senior Session Style Guide

Confident. Comfortable. Completely You.

Your senior session is all about you — your style, your vibe, your personality. The right outfit can make you feel confident and relaxed so your photos truly shine. Here’s my guide to help you choose what to bring (and what to leave at home). Want visual inspo? Check out my Pinterest board for ideas.

Yes, Please!

  • Clothes that make you feel amazing — confident, comfortable, and you.

  • Colors that flatter your skin tone and make your eyes pop.

  • Layers — denim jackets, cardigans, scarves — they add texture, variety, and posing options.

  • Outfits that tell your story — think favorite pieces, signature styles, or something special for this milestone.

  • Accessories — rings, earrings, hats, belts, hair scarves… they photograph beautifully and can change a whole look.

  • A mix of styles — casual, dressy, sporty, school-related. Variety = more unique images.

  • Comfortable fits that let you sit, stand, and move easily.

No, Thank You

  • Wrinkled or lint-covered clothes.

  • Outfits all in the exact same color.

  • Too many bold patterns — throw in some solids for balance.

  • Super trendy pieces you wouldn’t normally wear (you want these photos to feel timeless).

  • Clothes that are way too tight or baggy.

  • Bright/patterned undergarments that might show through.

  • Wearing the same style in every outfit — mix it up!

Extra Tips for Amazing Outfits

Think About Movement
If it’s too tight to sit in, it’s a no-go. Fit & flare dresses, maxi skirts, and flowy tops photograph beautifully.

Layer Up
Layers = instant variety. Bonus points if your layer has pockets!

Avoid “Busy” Prints
Small patterns like tiny florals, polka dots, or subtle stripes are perfect — large or chaotic prints can steal the spotlight.

Play with Texture
Lace, crochet, ruffles, ties, or buttons can add interest without being overpowering.

Accessorize with Intention
Bring multiple options and swap halfway through for fresh looks.

Dress for the Season

  • Fall: Cozy sweaters, boots, rich colors, hats, scarves.

  • Winter: Knits, warm accessories, maybe snow if we’re lucky!

  • Spring: Light florals, pastels, flowy dresses.

  • Summer: Sun-kissed vibes — shorts, tanks, sandals, airy fabrics.

Shopping Inspiration

Some of my favorite places for photo-worthy finds:
Free People • Urban Outfitters • H&M • Shein • Anthropologie

Little Things That Make a Big Difference

  • Barefoot moments — especially cute with jeans or long dresses.

  • Hair changes — ponytail, headband, loose waves. Small changes = fresh looks.

  • Strapless bra or pasties for tricky necklines.

  • Ditch the Apple Watch — your photos will thank you.

  • Go all out — this is your moment! Bring that extra outfit, get your hair done, or bring fun props.

When in doubt, bring more than you think you’ll need — we’ll plan your outfits together during your session to make sure you get variety and photos that feel uniquely you.
